ELON Musk’s Starlink space internet has gotten a big discount β and it’s available in dozens of US states.
Starlink uses a network of satellites orbiting the Earth to beam internet to your home.
You’ll need to buy one of SpaceX’s Starlink receivers to get it β as well as paying a monthly fee for the internet itself.
But it’s a great alternative to wired connections, or as a backup option to your regular internet.
In early 2022, Starlink raised the price of its devices from $499 to $599.
But this week, the price went back up to $499.
And if you’re lucky enough to live in one of the 28 states where there’s plenty of Starlink capacity, you can claim a further $200 discount.
So you’re potentially saving $300 versus what you could have paid just a few weeks ago.
“In the United States, new orders in certain regions are eligible for a one-time savings in areas where Starlink has ample network availability,” SpaceX explained.
“$200 will be taken off the price of your Starlink kit when you order on Starlink.com.
βAnd if activated after purchase from a retailer, a $200 credit will be applied.
“Savings are only available on Standard Residential service in these designated regional savings areas.”

The full list of 28 states where the discount can be claimed is as follows:
- Arizona
- California
- Colorado
- CONNECTICUT
- Delaware
- Florida
- Hawaii
- Idaho
- Iowa
- Kansas
- Maine
- Maryland
- Massachusetts
- Nebraska
- Nevada
- New Hampshire
- New Jersey
- New Mexico
- New York
- North Dakota
- Oklahoma
- Oregon
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode island
- South Dakota
- Utah
- Vermont
- Wyoming
Bad tidings is that it is unclear exactly when this discount will end.
So if you’re tempted by the offer, it might be worth grabbing it sooner rather than later.
SPACE FEE
Note that you will still need to pay a monthly internet fee.

New orders in certain regions are eligible for a one-time savings in areas where Starlink has ample network availability.
SpaceX
This will vary depending on the area you live in and the capacity available.
If you live in an area where capacity is limited, you’ll pay up to $120 a month.
But the cost drops to $90 per month in areas with excess capacity.
This means you should get the lowest price if you live in one of the states listed above.
WITH STARRY EYES
Musk’s fleet of Starlink satellites delivers internet to customers on Earth.
The advantage is that you need minimal field infrastructure, so even rural customers can have a good connection.
SpaceX’s first Starlink launches took place in 2019.
And now there are thousands of Starlink satellites in orbit, with an initial goal of putting 12,000 in space β and possibly 42,000 eventually.
Starlink now has over 2.6 million subscribers.
